Shorts – vintage (used to be my mum’s), cropped top – Kimberly Ovitz, sunglasses – Gucci, bag – DKNY, sandals – Antik Batik, silver & feather jewellery – various gifts.

So happy with the UK heatwave, as it was an excuse to walk around in ridiculously small shorts and catch a bit of sun. It also meant that I spent most of the weekend far far away from the evil monitors in the middle of Richmond Park. If you wish to see some pics of this beautiful place in Spring time, be sure to check out Bare Soul.

Wearing: Christian Dior jacket (also worn here),  Gucci sunglasses, Ralph Lauren trousers (also here), Twenty8Twelve tee, Roberto Cavalli scarf, Chanel bag (here and here), ASH flats.

Went for afternoon tea last Saturday to a less popular place nearby only to taste heavenly tea, flavours included Apple Loves Mint and Jasmine Dragon. Next time I pop by, I am going to see how well they make my fave beverage – chai latte – a strong flavoured tea with milk and spices.

The day was so tranquil, I’ll probably mentally transport myself to it everytime I am not comfortable with reality. Not necessarily a happy place but a happy day, yes.

Good Friday – the perfectly tranquil day. I woke up feeling that the time has come to put no product in my hair and minimal on my face (the sun was out so SPF was a must), as for over two years my head was covered in all sorts of cosmetics, a break was indeed necessary.

The warm background that Richmond Park was kind enough to offer in the photographs added the sense of playfulness, youthfulness (I was mistaken for a 15 year old minutes before the shots were taken) and this particular carelessness that appears every time the sun is out.

I was wearing a Twenty8Twelve jumper, Zara leather jacket, Republic cut offs, New Look brogues and my favourite Isis silver necklace.

(Images were taken by me & the boyf, he’s getting good.)

3 takes of the Edun Dress

Some time ago I had a dream about my friend that I visited in Malta last year. Getting ready for what to expect from a very small piece of land, I researched the fashion scene on the island (evidence here). Having read my initial post my friend laughed saying that the only fashion I’d find on the island were pantie-less partygoers in mini dresses. I refused to believe her and as we stocked up on vouchers for free booze (Malta’s generous like that), I turned off my fashion radar and just danced. So no, I did not see any flashing.

Albeit my visit being brief, I believe I had a taste of almost all things Maltese, starting with mouth-watering pastries, finishing with the badass bus drivers on Soviet-like buses. It’s my understanding that those have been replaced by newer models. Pitty, they had so much character in them.

Somewhere inbetween serpentine cliff roads and racing near-death buses, I understood what Malta reminded me of – Alexandria mixed with my trusty friend, Vilnius. It’s perfectly Mediterranean yet with a very specific charm. One of its charms  was that friend of mine that I visited whom I miss dearly right now.

Pret-a-birthday

Today pret-a-reporter is one year old. To commemorate this beautiful anniversary, take a look at what I wore throughout last year. Or just scroll through the whole blog, you know, go crazy.

Edita at The Savoy

Awesome memory and the first image of me in the whole blogosphere: at J Summer Fashion Show (the Savoy) wearing a backless and brandless vintage dress and Schuh nude pumps.

Now take a slice of my virtual cake and chug that imaginary champagne. As Eddie Sedgwick screamed: “Drink! Drink! Everyone drink! Geese, geese, drink!” Here’s to hoping that pret-a-reporter sees another lovely year.

Dear reader, thank you for being here out of true love for me, hate for me, morbid curiosity, a topic to bitch about, willingness to see if I gained weight or my skinny backside, link building or whatever might be the reason. I am glad you are reading my blog and commenting, which means not necessarily agreeing with all of my heresies.

Is there anything you’d like me to add to the blog? More reporting, personal style, sarcasm? Let me know you thoughts and suggestions!

Vogueing Vamps

C’mon. Time to admit. Go on. It’s ok, we’re all on the same bandwagon.

We all love vampires and fortunately they are very en vogue right now. Now that fashion month is behind us, it’s safe to assume (based on the collections designers presented) that more or less, we all will look like the undead next fall. And, my friends, that is a good thing.

While vamps in movies are indulging in something else rather than blood these days, mainly whining and pondering about how tragic their immortal youth is, the cinema has offered us a fair share of fashionable and bad-ass blood-suckers since the dawn of film.

With no further ado, here’s a few stylish vamps that may get, you know, your blood pumping:

The Hunger (1983)

Miriam, oh Miriam. I think feminists should erect a monument in your honour. After all, you have been draining the life out of your lovers for centuries while living in extravagant house and wearing absolutely stunning ensembles.

Dracula (1992)

A film the fashion of which I have already bowed to before. Oldman, how can we not love your young Johny Depp, I mean young Dracula, portrayal.

Dracula Gary Oldman

OMG, like, he is so hot.

From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)

Santanico Pandemonium, is pretty hot. What’s more, she’s rocking the bohemian belly-dancer look. She probably played everyone’s dream film role: short, sweet and forever remembered.

Queen of the Damned (2002)

Speaking of bohemian belly-dancing like outfits, check out the vamp Queen Akasha (portrayed by the late Aaliyah) rocking this number. Do appreciate the meticulously done lapis lazuli neckpiece.

True Blood (2008)

More blood-thirsty royalty. This time it’s from the popular TV series, filled with hot love making and, when this particular character was alive, fashion. Doesn’t image number two look simply Vogueing?

Svetlana’s earrings

Svetlana's earrings

These are so feminine and delicate. I am trying to learn step by step from Svetlana’s natural ability to wear something basic making it into a detail that one cannot take his eyes off. I not only couldn’t take my eyes of these, but I stuck my camera in her ear demanding a photo for the blog. I don’t think I left her with a much of a choice, so she politely agreed.
